The choice of appliance depends on the child’s age, the diagnosis made, and the treatment objectives.

Functional and orthopedic appliances

These devices are used during growth to guide jaw development and to correct certain early imbalances.

They act on jaw position, occlusion, and muscle balance, promoting harmonious growth of the face and dentition.

Early intervention often helps to simplify later treatments.

Retention phase: maintaining the results

After the active phase of treatment, a retention phase is put in place to stabilise the position of the teeth. This may take the form of:

  • a retention wire bonded to the inner surface of the teeth,
  • and/or a mouthguard worn mainly at night.

This step is essential to preserve long-term results.
